The Millpark Independent Bible Church has its roots in a small house church, which started in October 1977 in Jyllandsgade (street name). It was christians from Northern Ireland who started the house church, and in the beginning it consisted of 8 people. The background of the house church was to follow the Bible in both church activities and in everyday life.
In the beginning we met every Sunday morning to remember the Lord Jesus with the Lord’s Supper. This we have done ever since. Besides our Sunday meetings, we met in the middle of the week to pray and study the Bible together. The purpose was to edify the church and be challenged in our faith. The church has always had a wish to share the Gospel. So we began to hand out tracts systematically in the Esbjerg and Varde area. In 1981 we started a children's club, primarily with the children from the church. Some of the children brought friends along from the neighbourhood.
After some good years, a wish grew forward, to have a more neutral place for the meetings, and in March 1987, we moved to a house at Grundtvigs Allé. There we had the whole first floor available for our meetings. There we succeeded to also start a sewing club for young teenagers.
We were happy and grateful for our facilities there, but it wasn’t always easy for older people to climb the stairs, so we began to look for a more suitable place.
In May 1998 we bought the property on Spangsbjerg Møllevej 16C, which has easier access, and this has been our location ever since.
We are still happy Christians, who believe that what the Bible says is true, and we still meet every Sunday to worship. Likewise we still meet regularly for prayer and Bible study.
The Millpark Independent Bible Church has never been a big church. However, over the years we have enjoyed fellowship with many people, both from different parts of Denmark, and from around the world.
Our vision is to grow, both in faith and numerically, and we always welcome new people in our church.
